About The Artist
Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema was a Dutch artist alive from 1836-1912. During his youth, he trained at the Royal Academy of Antwerp. He achieved British denizenship which is an old process where a foreign national could gain special legal privileges in England such as land ownership. His most regarded works are magnificent portrayals of the Roman Empire.
